Safe mode is a great tool for you to troubleshoot and remove problematic apps, much like the safe mode on Windows.
So, the question is: Does Redmi have a Safe Mode ?
It seems like there isn’t one. I’ve tried the following methods without success.
- Phone is off > Press and hold the Menu Button > Press the Power button to turn on the phone > Continue pressing the Menu button until you see the lock screen.
- Phone is off > Press the Power button to turn on the phone > Press and hold the Volume Down button until you see the lock screen.
- Phone is off > Press the Power button to turn on the phone > When you see the white MI logo, press and hold the Menu button until you see the lock screen.
Furthermore, in searching for a solution, I found this thread on Xiaomi Chinese forum that says Xiaomi has ditched the Safe Mode feature starting from MIUI V5. Ah hah ! That probably explains why none of the above works.
However, if everyone knows a way to access Safe Mode on Redmi, please let me know in the comments.
Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
