How to switch from Chinese to English on your Xiaomi Redmi ?

To change the language from Chinese to English on your Redmi, just follow these steps:

Note : For this tutorial, I can only show you how to switch from Simplified Chinese to English. The Redmi version I’m having do not feature Traditional Chinese.

  1. On your phone, find and launch the Setting apps.

  2. Tap General Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.

  4. Tap Language.

  5. Select English.

Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

  1. Sir I just restored my phone and everything is OK in redmi 1s but the theme and wallpaper market language is changed in chinease from english

    • Test with your default theme. If you can’t see the Chinese words/phrases as per the current theme, it must be the theme issue.

    I facing difficulty to write chinese in simply chinese , the default input is traditional chinese. How can I switch to simply chinese ask input while my system in english

    • Are you using the Google Pinyin Input app ? I’ve no idea what keyboard app is Taiwanese Mi3 is using. I’m using Google Pinyin Input on my Mi3. In the app’s settings I can uncheck the traditional chinese to make it simplify chinese. In case you want to download this keyboard app, here’s the link.

    • Sure, head to the MIUI forum and search for “Google Play” you should see quite a number of threads that let you download the Google Play apk which were shared by the members. This is the latest sharing I saw in MIUI forum. Sorry, I can’t test it on my Xiaomi phone as it comes default with Google Play.

  11. I have recently bought a Xiaomi mi3. The language is the biggest obstacle. If you could help to get an English operating manual or intimate where in NET I can access it I shall be grateful. Now the phone is lying unused. I hope to receive a favourable reply.

    • As far as I know, there’s no downloadable user manual for either Xiaomi MI 3 or Redmi at the moment. But, the Readme app has the User Guide for your phone. If you have any problem, it’s advisable to seek help in MIUI forum.

    • I guess it depends on the ROM, SGP MIUI ROM definitely don’t have Malay language. I understood that the Mi 3 sold in Malaysia has a Malay translation. Unfortunately, that’s only for Mi 3.

    • I don’t think there’s one. Why not google play ? Alternatively, you can go to app.xiaomi.com, make use of the browser translation feature and download the apk file from there.
