You can use your Redmi phone as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot to share its mobile data connection with a maximum of 8 devices via Wi-Fi.
Note: Please note that when you turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot feature, you’ll be using Wi-Fi to connect the clients and mobile network for Internet access. So charges may apply.
- On your Redmi, go to Settings > General settings > … More > Tethering > Wi-Fi hotspot and tap the Enable Wi-Fi hotspot switch to turn it on.
- Next, you can tap Set up Wi-Fi hotspot to customize the network ID, security type, password and the maximum number of connections.
- Once you’ve done Step 1 and 2, you can configure the client devices to connect to your Redmi for Internet access.
- In the Connected users section, you can see the MAC addresses of the connected devices. Here, you can block any device by just tapping the Block button.
Tip : Redmi also supports WPS Push Button and PIN Entry for clients Wi-Fi connection.
Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
