How to manage SIM card contacts on Xiaomi Redmi ?

These are the instructions on how to display, add and delete SIM card contacts on your Redmi phone.

i. To display SIM card contacts on the contacts list:

  1. On your Redmi, find and launch the Contacts app.
  2. Tap the Menu button.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Display preferences.
  5. Slide the Show SIM contacts switch to the right.

ii. To add a contact:

In order to add contacts to the SIM card, you’ll need to complete the steps in Section i first, before doing the steps below :

  1. On your Redmi, find and launch the Contacts app.
  2. Tap + New contact.
  3. Select the SIM card you want to save the contact.
  4. Enter the name and phone number, then hit OK.

iii. To delete a contact on SIM card:

  1. On your Redmi, find and launch the Contacts app.
  2. Tap the Menu button.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Display preferences.
  5. Slide the Show SIM contacts switch to the right.
  6. Tap Configure contact lists, and then select the SIM card contacts you want to see.
  7. Get back to the contacts list and you should see all the contacts that are saved in the SIM card.
  8. Here, you can long tap a contact, then hit Delete.
  9. When you’re prompted for confirmation, tap Delete.

Note: The steps here were written for MIUI V5, based on Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of MIUI/Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

    • If you didn’t sync with your Xiaomi account and Google account. I’m afraid I can’t help you.

  2. Hi, I’m new user here.I have some problem regarding my contact, where i cannot view my contact details. If i click on the name, some of it will bring me back to home screen. Any idea to fix it?

    • I haven’t had this problem on my Redmi. You can go to the Contacts App info screen, and execute Clear data to check if it helps. If not, report this problem in MIUI forum.Hopefully, those with the same problem should be able to help you.

  5. Hi, I have a friend who has a problem with grouping some contacts in a group. She has 699 contacts in her phone, however, when she wants to add some of them in a group, her available selection only shows 68. She also realized that all her contacts in Chinese does not appear in the group selection too.

    She came to me for help but I had only been a brief Redmi user. Could you help me with it please? Thank you!

    • Frankly, I’m new to Xiaomi phone as well :). This is what I know about contact group:- When you create a contact group, you’ll be asked to select in which account, assuming you’ve signed in Google, Xiaomi and etc. accounts, you want the group to be in. The contacts group in Google Contacts can only add contacts in Google Contacts. Same goes to Xiaomi Contacts. So, it depends where is your contact group, you might see only selected contacts.

      2. Tap the Menu button.
      3. Select Settings.
      4. Tap Display preference.
      5. Tap View contact names as.
      6. Select Given name first.
