The pre-install video player on your Redmi isn’t perfect. While it plays mov and mp4 flawlessly, it can’t play quite a number of popular video formats such as rmvb, avi, flv and mkv.
If you try to play these files using the stock video player, you’ll see the following unknown error message.
Fortunately, there’s a way around this problem. Just install the MX Player (Free) from Google Play and the problem is solved. The MX Player is known to play video files of diverse formats.
To install and use MX Player on your Redmi, please follow these steps:
- On your phone, install MX Player from Google Play.
- Find and launch the MX Player app.
- On the Folder screen, you’ll see a list of folders that contain the video files on your phone.
- Access the folder and tap the video file you want to play. Yep, it’s that easy.
Tip: Both the MoboPlayer (Free) and DicePlayer (Free) are equally good and popular.
Note: The steps here were written for MIUI V5, based on Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of MIUI/Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

Hi Ethan , just check how do I delete items from clipboard for Redmi note ? many thanks

As far as I know, there’s a tool or mechanism on the current MIUI that let you do so. You either reboot your phone or use a third party app such as History Eraser.

1. Security app > Data usage > Restrict > Download, and then find Facebook. Ensure the “Allow” icon is in the Data column. Read this.
2. On your MXplayer settings, tap List > Video folder, ensure the path that stores the videos is specify here.
