How to create a Mi Cloud (or Xiaomi) account ?

Xiaomi account and Mi Cloud account are actually the same account.

If you’ve a Xiaomi account, you can use it to sign in to Mi Cloud, Mi Talk, MIUI Forum, Mi Market and etc.

If you don’t own one, you can follow the steps below to create a Xiaomi account for free, and then use it to access Mi Cloud and other services.

i. To create a Xiaomi account:

  1. On your desktop browser, go to https://account.xiaomi.com/
  2. Click Create an account.

  3. Now, you can decide whether to register your account using your mobile number or email address. For this tutorial, I’ll choose Register using a mobile number as an example.
  4. On the Create an account page, select Register using a mobile number, enter your mobile number and click Get verification code.

  5. A 4-digit pin will be sent to your mobile phone.
  6. Enter the 4-digit pin in the verification code field, key in your password twice, and tap Create an account.

  7. That’s it. You can now sign in to Xiaomi services using your mobile number as the username and the password you’ve entered in Step 6.

ii. To enter your account details:

After creating your Xiaomi account, you can sign in to https://account.xiaomi.com/ to fill in your account details.

  1. Sign in to https://account.xiaomi.com/ using your Xiaomi account.
  2. Here, you can enter your name and most importantly bind your email to this account. By doing so, you can use either your phone number or email address as your username.

iii. To sign in to Mi Cloud:

Having created your Xiaomi account, you can now access the Mi Cloud services using it. Here’s how:

  1. Go to https://i.mi.com/.
  2. Enter your username and password, then press Enter.
  3. Next, you should see the 2-step verification prompt asking you for the verification code. Click Send text messages to send the verification code to your mobile phone. After that, enter the code and click Confirm. Note: If you sign in regularly using the same computer and device, you can select the “This is my personal device, …” option to add the device to your account as a trusted device, and you won’t be asked to enter the verification code every time you log in from that device.

Note: You can get verification codes by SMS, but if you’re worried that the incoming SMSs may incur changes, especially you need to travel abroad quite frequently, you can use the Xiaomi Authenticator app on your mobile device to generate the verification codes. Here’s how to activate a Xiaomi Authenticator.

    I have successfully created MI account in redmi 4g note but when I stop my wifi connection, its continuously prompting message for login.
    I have sing out from MI account still after few minute its prompting a message to log in.

      • Sorry Leo, I’ve no idea on this. From my experience, sometimes it just won’t work. I just got to try again at later time.

    • Do report your issue in the MIUI forum with necessary screen capture to show the Mi Cloud admin.

  9. I want reset the pattern lock in redme 1s phone as ihave forgotten the pattern so it is asking the Mi account password but i have forgotten that also please guide me how to open the apps that are locked

    • As far as I know there isn’t much alternative if you forgot both the pattern and mi account password, except using Android Device Manager set a new PIN/Password. This only works if you have it set properly.

      Anyway, do check with others in the MIUI forum regarding your problem.

  10. I cant sign in with my account it always says network error. Also when I tried clicking forgot password the page doesn’t load. When I try to open the log in site using my browser it also doesnt open. pls help

    • Ensure your phone has Wi-Fi or mobile data connection. Referring to this thread, this guy had the same problem but resolve it by inserting the SIM card into the phone. Well, if you don’t have a SIM card in your phone you can give this method a try.

    Always fail to log in
    Try to reset password ,it is not ok but make account with my phone number ; not sent SMS varification code to my phone for reset password

    • Sorry, this is something I’ve no idea and control of. Give it a few more tries. If it still doesn’t work for you, report this issue in the MIUI forum.

    • I seldom use mi talk actually. I’ve updated to the latest version via the Google Play and managed to sign in using both Xiaomi ID and email address.

      Kindly check out this thread and try the suggestions given. If that doesn’t help, do update this thread with your status as well.

    • Kindly report your problem in MIUI forum with the error messages you’re seeing (If possible have the screen capture included) for the admin to help you.

    • Sorry Jaybir, this isn’t something I can do much. You can keep trying for a few more times. If it still doesn’t work, it is better you report this problem in the MIUI forum.

  20. When i am trying to download any themes it asks to create MI account and when I try to do it its failing. Also I created MI account in my laptop and tried to login thru my mobile I get the same issue.

    • Can I know what’s the error message ?

      1. Make sure your phone has Internet connection.
      2. If you’re using your phone number as the username, ensure you’ve the + sign and country code included in front of the number.
      3. If you’ve tight your email to your mi cloud account (you can do it now, if you haven’t done so), you can also try signing in using your email address.
      4. If it still doesn’t work, do a restart.
      5. If it still doesn’t work, do a factory reset.

  22. when i am opening its asking dynamic password. When am pressing password to get my mobile not coming any password to mobile. plz solve this?

    • Sorry prmaod, I don’t think I’ve a better answer for you because this type of problem related to Xiaomi’s infrastructure. You can check the following FAQ and the same problem reported by others. Other than that, you just have to keep trying resend. Personally, I managed get the verification after clicking resend.

    • Sorry Manish, I don’t think I’ve a better answer for you because this type of problem related to Xiaomi’s infrastructure. You can check the following FAQ and the same problem reported by others. Other than that, you just have to keep trying resend. Personally, I managed get the verification after clicking resend.

      Now I am using MI4 device with ver of MIUI 6.5.1 & desired to get the latest ver of MIUI 6.5.3 but could not get notification on device.

      Also I am facing problem while calling, incoming voice is drop for a 2/4 seconds. I am trying all hardware test & other suggested process by MI but could not resolved.

      please help me.

      • According to this page, the latest ROM for Mi 4 it’s still Version: V6.5.1.0.KXDMICD.

        As for the incoming voice call drop issue, kindly check if there’s anyone has the same problem and their solutions in your in the official MIUI forum. Alternatively, you can seek help at the nearest Xiaomi service center.

  25. My sim card registration is failed. I am unable to activate my sim card in red mi 1s. However the same sim card works other phones just fine.

    I always get “”activating account” & writing activation message on screen but sim does not get activated. I am unable to call or receive the calls

    Pls suggest

    • I have 2 SIM cards tested on the same Mi 3. One gave me the “Can’t activate SIM card” error and another don’t. This bug has been reported quite a few times in MIUI forum which has yet to be resolved. It happens when you try to turn on SMS sync, Cloud Messaging or Find device on your phone’s Mi Cloud settings.

      But, this shouldn’t effect your SIM card operation. You should be able to call or send SMS. This is as far as I know.

  26. I am also unable to register my account. I have tried all the four options.On MI3 tried creating the account by Email & Phone number but in vain and the same on the website as well. I am unable to create.
    Can someone help please?

  27. I have created account on web, but when i am trying to sign in on phone it is showing couldnt connect to server.
    The same error was coming when i was trying to sign up account using my red mi.
    I am resident of India.

    • Reload the phone and try again later.If still don’t work, log this issue in MIUI forum with the screen capture to show the error message.

    • If you’re using mobile phone as the username, kindly remember to include the + sign and country code with your phone number. As for the rest of the issues, sorry I’ve no idea, you need to work with Xiaomi.

  31. I use very often Micloud until last week becouse the sms verification on my mobile does not arrive anymore.
    I have the micloud messaging on, I didnt change nothing from the last time I had access on my micloud account.

    • If you’ve registered using your phone number as your username, remember to have the + sign and country code with your phone number as the username.

    • Have you created the Xiaomi account ? When you create a Xiaomi account, you can choose to register using either email address or phone number. Your password is entered during the registration and it has nothing to do with your SIM password.

  37. I am not able to create an account in MIcloud from my Redmi 1s mobile. Whenever I try,
    it says that I am not connected to net.
    I have tried it via router as well as using my 3G SIM connection. In both cases it says the same.
    But pls note that I am able to download other apps and do other internet activities under both the situations(wifi/3gSIM). That is my net connection is working in both ways.

  41. I tried creating mi account using email id. It shows message that activation mail will be sent to your email id but email never get delivered to inbox,spam folders. Tried with yahoo and gmail account.

    Is yahoo & gmail or isp blocking xiaomi from sending email . Has anyone received activation email on yahoo or gmail

    • Do report this problem in the MIUI forum for more users or even the Mi Cloud admin to respond to you. As for me, I’d no problem getting emails from Xiaomi on my Gmail.

    • Teja, I would suggest you search the MIUI forum for suggestions. There are quite a number of threads regarding this issue. If those threads don’t help, you can report yours in the forum. Make sure you facilitate more details such as whether you’re using the mobile number or email address to login, on where you can’t sign in, what’s the error message and etc.

    • If you’ve entered your phone number, verification code and your password. Then your phone number (with a + in front) will be your username.
