If you browse the Internet quite frequently using your mobile data connection, you might want to consider disabling the “automatic image loading” to save some data.
- On your device, find and launch the Browser app.
- Tap the Menu button, then select Reduce data usage.
- Now, the Browser will stop loading the images automatically. If you want to see them, you’ll need to tap the “blank” images to load them manually.
The Reduce data usage feature only works for mobile data connection. If you want to disable automatic image loading even when you’re on Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
- On your device, find and launch the Browser app.
- Tap the Menu button > Settings > Bandwidth management > Preload images and then select Never.
Note: The steps here were written for a Xiaomi device running MIUI V5. If you’re having a different version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

While this feature isn’t available on my Redmi, I did see a few threads regarding this issues. It could be a bug or something. Kindly read up in the MIUI forum on this. Sorry that I can’t help much.

Hello Ethan, Greetings for the day!!
Im facing some problem with redmi 1s and it is taking long time to load the home page. I have cleared some of my apps and freed the space, but still my redmi 1s is working slow. In the process of cleaning and unistalling apps , I lost some of my important videos.
Can i get back them? If yes, how can I restore them? Please suggest me in this regard and also tell me How frequently rooting is required ?
Thanks in advance for any kind of help/

Personally, I haven’t done such a recovery before. Here are some links that might help:
1. Link 1
2. Link 2
You should also do further research on the web.
Whether to root your phone or not is pretty much depends on your own requirements. The requirements such as deleting certain pre-installed files, uninstalling certain pre-installed apps, special tweaking of the system to increase performance and more needs root access to your phone.
