You can setup your AOL mailbox on your Xiaomi phone manually or automatically:
i. Setting up an AOL mailbox automatically
Using this method, the Mail app will automatically configure to use IMAP to download the emails. If you prefer to use POP3, kindly refer to the steps in Section ii.
- On your phone, find and launch the Email app. If this is your first time launching this app or you haven’t had any email account configured, skip to Step 4.
- Tap the Menu button, and select Settings.
- Tap Add account
- On the Add an account screen, select Other.
- Fill in the information for your AOL account, then hit Next.
- The Email app will automatically configure the incoming and outgoing server settings for you.
- Customize the Inbox checking frequency and the rest of the options, then hit Done.
ii. Setting up an AOL mailbox manually
Using the manual method, you can setup the Mail app to download your AOL emails using POP3.
- On your phone, find and launch the Email app. If this is your first time launching this app or you haven’t had any email account configured, skip to Step 4.
- Tap the Menu button, and select Settings.
- Tap Add account.
- On the Add an account screen, select Other.
- Fill in the information for your AOL account, then hit Manual setup.
- Select POP3.
- Fill in the information required for the incoming server settings, then tap Next. For POP/SMTP setup information, you can sign in to your web-based AOL email, and then go to Options > Mail Settings > IMAP and POP
- Fill in the information required for the outgoing server settings, then tap Next. For POP/SMTP setup information, you can sign in to your web-based AOL email, and then go to Options > Mail Settings > IMAP and POP
- Customize the Inbox checking frequency and the rest of the options, then hit Done.
Note: The steps here were written for a Xiaomi device running MIUI V5. If you’re having a different version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
