While you can’t uninstall the Bloatware (the additional apps that are added by the manufacturer or carriers) on your Xiaomi phone without root access, you can disable some of them.
i. Disabling a pre-installed app
- On your Xiaomi phone, find and tap the Settings app.
- Tap Apps > All.
- Find and tap the app you want to disable.
- Tap the Disable button.
- Now you should get a pop-up that says “If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave.” Just select OK.
Note :
- There are some system apps that can’t be disabled.
- If you have quite a few unused apps to disable, try doing one app at a time. Once you have disabled an app, check if your phone is still working as it should before you go ahead with the next app.
- There are some apps that need you to uninstall the updates first, before allowing you to disable them.
ii. Enabling a disabled app
- On your Xiaomi phone, find and tap the Settings app.
- Tap Apps > All.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list to see the disabled apps.
- Tap the app you want to enable, and then hit the Enable button.
Note: The steps here were written for a Xiaomi device running MIUI V5. If you’re having a different version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

When you perform a factory reset and choose to wipe all data, then you’ve to do the initiate setup on your phone again, and of course all stored data will be erased.
You can reinstall the missing apps using the Playstore app. If the Playstore app isn’t found, here’s how to get it back on your phone.

Hey, my messaging app is missing from the default bottom row. I am not sure what I did. I can’t find it anywhere else. So, how can I get the app back?
Let me know. Thanks

You can just tap and drag the Messaging app from the home screen to the bottom area. Read this tutorial to get an idea.
