Taking the popular GO Keyboard app as an example, I’ll show how to install a new keyboard and set it as default on your Xiaomi phone.
- On your Xiaomi phone, download Go Keyboard from Google Play.
- When the download completes, launch the Settings app, and then tap General settings > Language & input.
- Tap
to enable Go Keyboard (or any other new keyboard you’ve installed) on your phone.
- To set the newly installed keyboard as default, tap Default, and then select Go Keyboard.
- To customize the keyboard, tap
next to Go Keyboard to view more settings.
Note: The steps here were written for a Xiaomi device running MIUI V5. If you’re having a different version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.

I appreciate your instructions; however, if I do not have a keyboard, how do I type into the browser Go Keyboard? Under Language and Input on my phone, it only says Default and when I click on it, nothing is there to select.
Can you use these phones in US?
Frustrated!

Hi Liz, I don’t know which model of Xiaomi phone you’re having. Anyway, all Xiaomi phones come with a few keyboards such as Google keyboard and SwiftKey installed. As far as I know, Google keyboard is something you can’t uninstall without root access. So, I don’t know why your phone doesn’t detect any keyboard. Maybe you can try doing a factory reset to see if you can get back the pre-installed keyboards.

Hi there. I constantly get this notification from Mi Cloud stating that SIM card hasn’t been bound. My service does not receive international text messages so I cannot bind my SIM card. Is there any way to stop this notification? Thank you!

Saw a similar question posted in MIUI forum awhile back. From my experience, I had this error messages when my prepaid SIM card ran out of credits to send out SMS which is required in the phone number binding process.
It only did that when I turned on SMS sync, Cloud Messaging and Find device in the Mi Cloud settings. Maybe you can try turning off these options to check if you’re still seeing those error messages.

Hi.Sorry to post this here, but i don’t know how to get to you otherwise. Can I sync my note (on my redmi)with google? I also cannot find a way to retrieve my note from google on my notepad. Please help. Thanks.

I assumed you mean Google Keep here. I don’t think there’s a way to do that. You can sync notes on your Redmi with Mi Cloud, hence make a backup. For Google Keep, you can install the Google Keep app on your Redmi to access the google notes.
