If you’ve followed the steps in this tutorial to enable Flash support on your Xiaomi Mi 3, you might notice it doesn’t work anymore after upgrading your phone to Android 4.4 (KitKat).
Yes, you need a different approach now, which requires the following 2 apps:
- A modified version of Flash Player for Android 4.4.
- Dolphin browser.
Follow the steps below to install these 2 apps on your Xiaomi phone:
- To allow your Xiaomi phone to install the Flash Player for Android 4.4, which will be downloaded from http://dolphin.com/lab/en, do the following: Launch the Settings app, tap Security, and then slide the Unknown sources switch to the right.
- Download Dolphin Browser for Android from Google Play.
- Launch Dolphin Browser, and then access http://dolphin.com/lab/en.
- Tap Download next to Flash Player.
- When the download completes, open the notification panel and tap on the Download complete notification to start the installation.
- After the installation completes, ensure the following 2 options are enabled on your Dolphin browser before browsing any Flash-based websites.
- Go to Dolphin’s Settings menu > enable Dolphin Jetpack (Note: This option is enabled by default)
- Go to Dolphin’s Settings menu > Web content > Flash Player and select Always on.
- Go to Dolphin’s Settings menu > enable Dolphin Jetpack (Note: This option is enabled by default)
- Now, you should be able to view Flash-based websites on Dolphin Browser.
Note: The modified Flash Player for Android 4.4 only works with Dolphin Browser.
Note: The steps here were written for a Xiaomi device running MIUI V5. If you’re having a different version of MIUI, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
