MIUI 6: How to remove the lock icon on an app in Task Manager?

I’m using Redmi Note 4G. In the task manager, I noticed there’s a small lock icon in the upper right corner on the Messaging app. And, whenever I tap X to remove all apps, the Messaging app isn’t removed. Can you please tell me how to remove the lock on the Messaging app?

Answer:

In MIUI, you can lock an app in the task manager and keep it running in the background. The locked app will show a small pad lock icon in the upper right corner.

You can lock an app by swiping down on its icon, and then do the same gesture to unlock it. So for your case, simply swipe down on the Messaging app one more time to unlock the app.

In addition, you can also remove an app from the cache, regardless it’s locked or unlocked, by swiping up on ts icon.

  1. Mi4i already has a default app lock which is visible in the pull down toggle bar . The same is missing and I can’t find it . Every time I have to lock app I have to go to settings and do the complete drill.

    I am also using Redmi note prime, the latest I find there was a OS update version 7.2.3.0, so I download and updated, later I find mobile is getting heat always…
    Early when it was in 7.1.1.0 I didn’t have this heat issue. After update only. Could you please guide me to resolve this issue or tell me how to degrade the update version.

    • Sorry Sekar, I won’t be able to guide you to resolve the potential bug. You have to research or report your issue in the official MIUI forum. As for downgrading, it involves manually flashing the old ROM using MiFlash program.

    I am using Redmi 2 Prime. One of my friend also holding the same model, we both purchased at the same time.

    Now he has received new update and upgraded OS from kitkat to Lollypop. But for me whenever I try of update, it always displays no update available information.

    Could you please let me know, how do I upgrade my Redmi 2 Prime device to Lollypop 5.1.1 Version OS.

    • As far as I know from the MIUI forum, the update is only for random people. Many members in the MIUI forum have also provided feedback that they haven’t gotten it. I guess, you just need to wait.

    Recently I purchased Redmi Note 3. I wanted to use both SIM cards and Memory card on the same. But I find difficulty to insert all of them in the slots.

  8. Hi, i am aware of this features but the problem i’m facing is, my whatsapp and intagram are always auto-lock in the first place. It was fine before. Any idea why this is happening on these 2 apps?

    • Did you mean even after you’ve unlocked these 2 apps, it will auto lock itself? Sorry that I’m not too sure of this problem. Maybe you can try seek help in the MIUI forum.

    How should I retain certain system settings from getting cleared out from cache.. Ex: I have set screen timeout to 1 min.. But whenever i clean out junk files, it cleares out these settings.. A popup arises occasionally showing i have this much of junk data & i just go ahead to clean it, then screen timeout goes to default.. How to prevent cache cleaner from ignoring this setting alone..

    • What did you use to clean out the junk files? As far as I know (and tested) the built-in Cleaner module doesn’t clear settings. To avoid any bugs, kindly make sure your phone is having the latest firmware.

    I am using Redmi 2 Prime, where Hide option available in File Explorer. When I select few files or folder and selected that Hide option, momently those files are disappeared.
    Later when I select Show Hidden files option from File Explorer, it does not showing my hidden files or folders.

    Please guide me to resolve this issue.

    • To access the files and folders that you’ve hidden using the Hide option in File Explorer, follow these steps:

      1. On your device, open the File Explorer app.
      2. Swipe down on the screen.
      3. If your device doesn’t have a screen lock, you’ll be prompted to create a PIN/Password/Pattern. Follow the on-screen instructions to create one, and then enter it to access your hidden files & folders.
      4. If your device has a screen lock, enter your screen lock Password/PIN/Pattern to access your hidden files & folders.

    2. Now pinch the screen like you are zooming in.
    Then the icons will expand and will display the app screen.

  15. In the Task manager, icon only displaying not displaying the image of the app in my redmi 2 prime. My friends have this feature.. Can u please help me..? If u dont understand i will describe with image please consider.

    • 1. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Battery and Performance > System Animation(Show System Animations).
      2. Reboot the Phone

    I locked apps via permission settings.. But when i opened it…it asks lock pattern… I opened the app… After exiting the app, it doesnt look like locked.. Its normal

    • Thank u so much for the answer. I had this lock symbol on my whatsapp icon and could not kill the app. Now, with your answer I was able to unlock it and kill the app in the task manager
