You can use multiple wallpapers on the lock screen of your Galaxy S7 Edge, and to have it show a different wallpaper each time the phone screen is turned on.
Here’s how:
i. Instructions for Android 7.0 Nougat
- Long tap an empty space on a Home screen.
- Tap Wallpapers and themes.
- Under My Wallpapers, tap From Gallery.
- On the Set as wallpaper prompt, tap Lock screen.
- Now, you can select the pictures to be shown on the lock screen.
- When you finish selecting, tap Done and you should see a similar message to this.
ii. Instructions for Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Long tap an empty space on a Home screen.
- Tap Wallpapers.
- Select Lock screen from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner.
- Tap From Gallery.
- Open an album, select the wallpapers that you want to use, and then tap Done.
Note: The maximum number of wallpapers that you can select is 30.

Hello, I have a galaxy with the 6.0.1 android version and I do not have this feature. Could it come from an update in the future perhaps?
Ethan says
Sorry, I’m not too sure which model of the Galaxy phone you’re having, and I’m also not sure if this feature will be included in the future updates. FYI, users of certain Galaxy S7 variants have reported that this feature has been removed after recent updates. Even Galaxy S8 no longer has this feature.
Ana says
I own a J5 (2015). I think the following J5’s all have the multiple lockscreen wallpapers feature, but I’m not sure about this one. Thanks for the reply anyway!

How do I crop the pictures I selected? Before the android 7.0 update, I used to be able to crop and adjust the pictures to fit my lockscreen and now I can’t.
Ethan says
This is how I crop and adjust an image for the lock screen wallpaper on my Galaxy S7 Edge. (Hopefully, it works the same on yours)
1. Long tap an empty area on a Home screen.
2. Tap Wallpapers and themes.
3. Tap From Gallery.
4. Pick Lock screen.
5. Pick the image you want to use as the wallpaper.
6. [Important step] Here, you can pinch in & out using 2 fingers, and tap & drag the image left or right to fit your lock screen.
7. When you finish adjusting, tap Set as wallpaper.
Brennan says
Hi,
Thanks for the reply but I meant when I select multiple pictures for the slideshow lockscreen… if I pick multiple pictures, it doesn’t allow me to crop
Ethan says
I see. Sorry I can’t remember whether I could crop before the Nougat update. But in Nougat, I can’t crop and adjust for multiple wallpapers as well on my unlock model.
the J says
When I last went into settings suddenly the wallpaper option had simply dissappeared and only the wallpapers and themes option remained. There is Clearly some buggieness include with this function in the nougat update. Both wallpapers and themes apps are still listed in system apps. Clearing app cache did not fix issue. Now when I select multiple images they will rotate for a bit but eventually it always gets stuck on a single image.
Ethan says
You can also try clearing the cache partition on S7 to see if that helps. Note: clearing/Wiping cache partition won’t delete your phone settings and data.
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Press the Power button + Volume Up button + Home button at the same time to boot it up, and then release them as soon as you see Galaxy S7 logo.
3. Your phone will then boot into Android Recovery mode. Use the Volume buttons to move the highlight to Wipe cache partition, and then use the Power button to select it.
4. When you’re prompted for confirmation, select Yes.
5. Once you’re done, you can select Reboot system now.
If clearing cache partition doesn’t help, you might want to consider backing up your data and factory reset your phone. Just do this as a last resort.
the J says
Thanks for all the suggestions, but the cache partition wipe also did not help. It’s not a big enough issue to do a factory reset for. I just hope Samsung recognizes the bug and includes a fix with the Nougat 7.1 update in 2018.
the J says
My S6 recently updated to Nougat and I am still able to select multiple images, however, the behavior is no longer as described in the very quick popup box “your images will be changed every time the device is turned on.” Now it only changes after a hard reset (which I typically do about once every 3 months – so useless). It used to rotate through every time the lock screen came back on. I can’t imagine this change is by design. There clearly are some glitches with this Samsung feature.
Also, if you go to the settings within the wallpapers section and turn off the advertisements in recommended content you get an error message at the bottom of the screen that looks so rough – like you just broke your phone.
Furthermore, why do I have wallpapers and themes and just wallpaper options in my settings menu? They seem redundant.
Ethan says
Firstly, I don’t own a S6 and the comments below are pretty much based on my Galaxy S7 Edge which might or might not be applicable to you.
For the multiple wallpaper issue, have you tried clearing the data for the Wallpapers app and then set the multiple images?
I agreed with you on the second point, therefore I myself will still turn on the Show recommended option.
I’m not sure about the variant of S6 you’re having, on my S7 there’s only ‘Wallpapers and themes’ in the Settings.
the J says
How does one “clear the data”?
Ethan says
1. Open the Settings app, tap Apps.
2. Tap the 3-dot Menu button > Show system apps.
3. Find and tap Wallpapers.
4. Tap Storage.
5. Tap Clear Data.
Note: The steps above are based on my S7 Edge, you might need to adjust them accordingly.

After I just did the update I can no longer select multiple wallpapers either! This was my favorite feature and actually very important that I get it back for personal reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jason M. VanDewater says
It seems that the update removed this feature from all S series phones. Who knows if they’ll bring it back. And like you I loved that feature!
Sheila B. says
I have a Galaxy S7 and since the update I also cannot select multiple images for my lockscreen. There is no box anymore that shows up in the upper left corner of the photos.
I’ve also seen several other posts where this option is available to some but not others.
I’ve taken some screenshots to show you if I can email them to you or post them somewhere for help.
I really loved this small feature and I’m upset now that I upgraded to Nougat. I knew I should have kept Marshmallow. This isn’t the only feature change that has upset me.
If anyone finds some help to this issue, please let me know. Thanks!
Ethan says
Very likely you’re using a different variant of S7 than mine. I’m using the international unlocked model which still lets me select multiple images for lock screen wallpaper after updating to Android Nougat. Are you using a locked model from a specific carrier?
You can email the screen shot to [email protected].
Becky says
Same problem. I updated mine today and it will only allow me to select one picture for the lock screen.

After the new update (March ’17) I found I couldn’t change my already chosen 30 pics but thanks to Ethan updating this I found exactly what I needed and was happy to update my pics. Thank you
Jose Navarro says
How did you find it I could only put one as the wallpaper
Kati says
Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and right now, with the update of Android 7 nougat I can’t set multiple pictures as my lockscreen. Is there something that I can do? I really love that feature on s7 but right now I can’t find it anymore.
When I had multiple pictures as lock screen wallpaper it was nice bc everytime screen turned on the wallpaper changed automatically from the pictures I chose before. Thanks.
Ethan says
I’m still able to set multiple wallpapers for the lock screen on my unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge. And, I have updated this post to include instructions for Android 7.0 Nougat.
Mike says
Hey Ethan, the problem seems to be widespread, because I too still can’t set multiple wallpapers on the lock screen, and that’s extremely disappointing. Trying to find an answer online, but there hasn’t been much about it. Please let us know if you find a solution.

As far as I know, My Interests is the app that does the slideshow wallpaper on S7/S7 Edge. If you can’t find it in Settings > Applications > Menu button > Show system apps, very likely this feature has been taken out on your model.

I just updated my S6 Edge to android 7.0… having same problem, won’t let me select mote than one. ?
