Here are the 2 ways to configure proxy server on Firefox for Android. Choose one that you find easy to understand.
i) Using the about:config feature
- Launch the Firefox browser, and then type “about:config” in the address bar and press return.
- Enter “proxy.http” into the search box on the about:config page.
- Tap Modify on “network.proxy.http” and type the proxy server name/ip address into the text box.
- Tap Modify on “network.proxy.http_port” and type the port number into the number box.
- Enter “network.proxy.type” into the search box on the about:config page.
- Tap Modify on “network.proxy.type” and input the number 1.
Note: To configure proxy servers for SSL, kindly enter “proxy.ssl” in step 2.
ii) Using the Network Preference add-on
- On your Firefox browser, go to Tools > Add-ons.
- Tap the Add-on icon at the top right corner.
- Now, enter “Network Preferences” in the search box to search for this add-on.
- Tap Network Preference Add-on in the search results.
- Tap Add to Firefox to download and install it.
- Once installed, go to Tools > Add-ons and tap Network Preferences Add-on.
- Here, you can enter the appropriate information for the following fields: HTTP Proxy, FTP Proxy, SSL proxy and etc.
