Redmi Note 4: no brightness

Does your phone screen turn on when there’s no call? Is it only turn off when there’s an incoming call or when you’re connected to a call? Make sure you’ve peeled off the original ‘screen protector’ that comes with your phone and there’s nothing blocking the proximity sensor at the top part of your phone.
