Redmi Note 4: No more app icon view in recent app screen?

After the recent update, I noticed that you can’t switch to show app icons in the recent app screen on my Redmi Note 4. There’s only app screen thumbnail view which I find it slower compare to showing the little app icons.

You’re right. The app icon view in the recent app screen has been disabled on Redmi Note 4 running MIUI 9. But, I still see that on my other phone running the developer ROM of MIUI 9. Hopefully, the MIUI developer will bring it back in the future updates. Give us back the option to choose between app icon view and screen thumbnail view.
